Arms Of The City Companies.

This is a set of four finely detailed original antique prints (copper plate engravings) from 1773. The accompanying scan gives a general idea of the overall view but cannot show the fine detail of the prints.

Copper Plate Engraving:- A copper plate engraving is produced by cutting (engraving) an image into a copper plate. This is a process which takes a great many hours and a high level of skill. When the plate has been completed Ink is applied to it. It is then wiped clean so that ink is left in the cut lines only. Finally the plate is pressed against paper to produce an image. Size:- printed area - each plate 7.00 x 9.00 inches approx. The scan is cropped to show the printed area only but the actual print has a wide border allowing for mounting and framing.

Artist / Engraver:- Engraved by Barak Longmate. Originally produced for John Noorthouck’s part-work “A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark” (1772-1773).

Postage / Shipping Costs:- I only charge postage for the first print ordered. There is no additional postage charge if you order more than one print. If you order more than one print please request an invoice so that I can apply this offer. Prints are normally posted in strong cardboard tubes for maximum protection.
