Comet Machine Gun, Yoshiya, Japan.

Original vintage tin plate "Comet Machine Gun" sparking toy space gun produced during the 1960's and 1970's. This example is from the early 1970's. Marked with the Yoshiya trade mark (KO within a diamond logo) and "Made in Japan". Also marked with the patent no. 729721 and 543747. In original box which is also marked with the Yoshiya trade mark etc.

Mechanism:- Trigger operated sparking mechanism.

Action:- Produces sparks which are visible in the transparent section on top of the gun. The yellow plastic component within the transparent green barrel also moves backwards and forwards. One of the cogs within transparent section rotates. n.b. There are three cogs within the transparent section of this gun, six are shown on the box lid. It appears that originally the one cog would of driven the other three so that they all rotate. In this example one cog seems to have been deliberately omitted. I'm guessing, but I think, that this is so that the sparking action is not hidden. 

Size:- 18.50 inches long approx.

Condition:- The toy is in excellent condition, as new. Working order! The box is also very good. Please refer to photographs. Please see note above re. cog.
