Toytown Express 6408, Mettoy, Great Britain.
Original vintage "Toytown Express" train track set produced by Mettoy, Great Britain. The engine is marked with the BR (British Rail) logo, introduced 1948. The set is shown in catalogues up until 1952. Presumably the toy dates to this short period. It's very difficult to find with a working engine, or any engine at all for that matter.
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up mechanism.
Action:- The engine runs around the track. The protrusions from its sides engage with the track and swing it around the sharp angles at each end. This is very much like the later small T.P.S. track toys made in Japan.
Size:- 14.00 inches long approx.
Condition:- In good condition, working order. The box is fair with neat repairs and some marking. Some slight distortion to the plastic of the engine. Refer to photo. No key.
