Vintage 'Rolling Cat' Tin Plate Novelty Toy.
Original vintage tin plate clockwork novelty toy 'Roll Over Cat'. Not marked but made in China. No MS (Metal/Spring) number indication. The main body and ball are tin plate. The tail is reduced to a wire. This is probably one of the simplest incarnations of this toy, there are many German and Japanese versions with better lithography, separate ears etc, but it's still quite an amusing toy.
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up.
Action:- Moves forward for a short distance. The tail then swings over forcing the main body to roll right over and eventually back onto its wheels. The cat then sets off for a set distance. Cycle repeats.
Size:- 4.25 inches long approx.
Condition:- In good condition with some slight play wear. This example is not boxed and doesn't come with a key. Still very nice and with one of the more amusing novelty toy mechanisms. Please refer to photographs.
