Airport Control Tower Nr. 5100, Schopper, West Germany.
Tin plate 'Airport Control Tower' marked with Schopper and 'Made in West Germany'. According to the box this is item Nr. 5100 but there is no name for the toy marked. All tin plate apart from the plastic propellers on each aeroplane. Very attractive lithography with world flags around the base along with common destinations and points of the compass. There's lots of detail of the interior of the main tower through the windows along with advertisements for many airline companies (quite a few now long gone - Pan Am, BOAC etc.).
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up - lever action.
Action:- Pull back the lever and the three aeroplanes speed around the control tower section. Wind resistance causes the propellers to spin.
Size:- 6.50 inches tall approx. Diameter with aeroplanes fitted approx 13.00 inches.
Condition:- The toy is in very good condition. Working order! The only fault is a small area of damage on the propeller of one plane (pink). The box is complete and very clean with only some minor creasing on the flaps. Please see photo (open in new tab/window to see full size image).
