Hippo Bank, Yoneya, Japan.
Original vintage tin plate "Hippo Bank" novelty toy money box from the 1960's-70's. Marked with the Yoneya trade mark (YONE within a diamond) as well as "Made in Japan". In original box which is marked with the Azrak Hamway International (importers) mark only although it is marked with the manufacturers No. 2042.
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up mechanism with integral key.
Action:- Novelty money box / bank. Place a coin on the space marked. Pull back the lever. The coin is propelled forward towards the Hippo which opens its mouth to swallow it. As it says on the box "The more he eats the more you save".
Size:- 6.25 inches long approx. Box 3.25 x 6.75 x 2.50 inches approx.
Condition:- The toy is in very good condition. The box is a little worn, particularly around the window, but is still acceptable. Please refer to photographs.
