Jumping Rabbit No. 33/60, Wells-Brimtoy Distributors Ltd., Great Britain.
Original vintage tin plate 'Jumping Rabbit', manufactured by Wells/Wells-Brimtoy Ltd., Great Britain. The toy is not marked with any identifying marks. It was introduced in 1931 by Wells and is described as Jumping Rabbit Style No. 33. It appears in later Wells-Brimtoy catalogues with the same name but as No. 60. I suspect this is the earlier version of the toy with more realistic printing. Some, presumably, later versions seem to have less sophisticated (fewer colour) lithography and are also marked with patent no., country of origin etc. Others have the word "British" stamped into the base. A very nice toy now nearly a hundred years old.
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up. Separate key.
Action:- Jumping toy. It's a little bit more sophisticated as compared to most jumping toys in that both front and rear legs move. The result is that it may adopt either a running or sitting posture.
Size:- 5.75 inches long approx.
Condition:- In remarkably good condition for one of these toys which jump about, fall over and generally get well used. The lithographed body sections are not chipped or scratched. There is a little chipping to the painted base of the body and some discolouration to one back leg. No box.
Postage / Shipping Costs:- When ordering multiple items please await invoice for total. Invoicing allows me to keep postage / shipping costs to an absolute minimum.
