Mechanical Streamline Locomotive, Mettoy, England.
Original vintage tin plate "Mechanical Streamline Locomotive" novelty tin toy. The toy is marked "Mettoy" and "Made In Gt. Britain". The box is marked with the Mettoy trade mark and with the manufacturers number "No. 5710. All tin plate with some cast parts. The box picture features a British Railways "Battle of Britain" class locomotive on turntable dating the toy to post 1948. It's illustrated in the Mettoy catalogue for 1952 but not in the catalogue for the following year.
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up motor with integral key.
Action:- Track toy. Engine moves up and down track, rotating at each end.
Size:- box 9.50 x 5.00 x 2.00 inches approx., track 26.50 inches approx. when assembled.
Condition:- In very good condition, appears little used. The box is in good condition. Please refer to photos.
