Wells-Brimtoy Distributors Ltd., 'O' Gauge - Mechanical Train Set.
Original vintage tin plate Passenger Train Set made by Wells-Brimtoy, Great Britain. Consisting of engine, tender, coach and oval of track. The attractive "Britannia" engine is more toy than model with lithographed wheels and fixed key. It does have a start/stop lever too. The carriage is marked with the Brimtoy trade mark. The tender is marked "British Rail" so the set was produced after 1948, probably at some time in the 1950's.
Mechanism:- Clockwork / Wind-Up, Fixed Key.
Action:- Clockwork / Wind-Up train set.
Size:- box 12.50 x 8.00 x 2.50 inches approx.
Condition:- The set is in very good condition and the engine is in working order. This was a cheaper, much more fragile set so its survival is quite surprising. It really does not appear to have been played with. The box, on the other hand is, is in very average condition with some staining as well as damage to the corners of the lid (repaired).
