This is a finely detailed original coloured antique print (chromoxylograph) from c.1880. The accompanying scan gives a general idea of the overall view but cannot show the fine detail of the print.
Chromoxylograph:- A coloured print produced by engraving multiple wood blocks with the various components of a scene, one for each colour. The wood blocks are used, in sequence, to build up a multi coloured print. Blog article - Buyers guide to antique prints.
Size:- printed area 7.25 x 5.00 inches approx. The scan is cropped to show the printed area only but the actual print has a wide border allowing for mounting and framing.
